EFT, also known simply as Tapping, is a self-help tool that you can use anywhere and at any time. It is like emotional acupuncture or acupressure. In EFT, you tap on acupuncture points on your body, which are associated with emotions. Although EFT is used primarily to address emotional issues, physical issues, such as illness or pain, are often reduced—sometimes miraculously—when the emotional issues associated with the illness or discomfort are resolved.
When you experience discomfort, either a negative emotion or physical pain, there is an energetic pattern created in the body, associated with that discomfort. This pattern is the result of a disruption or block in one of the meridian energy channels in the body. As soon as you are aware of the discomfort, then you start to tap on the emotional acupressure points. Tapping restores the body’s energy system back to a normal healthy state. This brings closure to the emotional “event” and sends a message to the brain that the trauma or stress is over. As a result, the issue disappears, sometimes in as little as 3 minutes! And in many instances, it is gone forever!
You can use EFT for pain management, improving sports performance, allergies, asthma, insomnia and sleeping disorders, dyslexia, grief, improving your vision, headaches, migraines, fear of flying, claustrophobia, fear of public speaking, weight loss, eating disorders, increasing libido, anger, fatigue, tension, anxiety, and so much more. Try in on anything and everything!
EFT is not about reliving uncomfortable memories during endless therapy sessions. Many issues can be resolved completely in one session. Others may require several months of persistent work. But don’t worry. EFT is easy to learn and easy to fit into a busy schedule. Many people have tremendous results using EFT on their own. Others may find it difficult to get started or to work through a particular issue. Working with a practitioner provides emotional support, coaching, and troubleshooting.
You can learn EFT in about 15-30 minutes. There are hundreds of instructional videos on the Internet. I adhere to EFT as taught by its developer Gary Craig, but there are numerous forms of this amazing technique created by Craig’s students and others. I offer private and group sessions.
